It maynot be a case of being scared of the past, but a total lack of civic sense and irresponsibility. Its surprising that we are the first to lash out at the west and its culture and impact on our society, but what we dont accept is that they have a very high degree of reverence for their monuments and relics. High prevalence of illiteracy may also be a major reason for this. The media (TV/newspapers) must be used to propogate such ideals instead of airing the same old reality shows and saas-bahu serials.
